On May 24, 1956, petitioners, Tom Williams, Joe Standridge, and James Deaton, charged jointly with Grand Larceny, respectively entered a plea of guilty. Williams and Standridge were sentenced to five years' imprisonment in the state penitentiary, and Deaton received a three year sentence.
