Portsmouth Newspapers, Incorporated, the publisher of a newspaper in Portsmouth, Virginia, became insolvent and made a general assignment for the benefit of creditors. The trustees under the assignment made rather elaborate preparations to sell the tangible personal property of the assignor at an auction sale which had been widely advertised for May 11, 1957. Shortly prior to the date of sale, however, an involuntary petition in bankruptcy...
