John H. Sloan, the appellant, was indicted jointly with Jim Bellamy on two counts, the first count charging them with forging a check and the second count with uttering it knowing that it was forged. Code, § 18-26. Sloan was tried separately by a jury which returned a verdict finding him guilty "of lending Countenance or otherwise aiding and encouraging and inciting the principal in passing a forged...
