At about midnight on Saturday, November 28, 1953, the body of Samuel P. Chickadel, a plumber by trade and a part-time taxi driver for the City Cab Company, was discovered on the grounds of the Ferris Industrial School in New Castle County. He had been stabbed to death, and his wallet was missing.
