About three o'clock in the morning of the night of October 31-November 1, 1955, Bert Richardson, a householder of McCollum, heard a man run up in his yard and holler for help. Getting out of bed, Richardson saw a nearby three-room house on fire and David Borden standing in Richardson's yard with his trouser leg ablaze. Borden's coat was lying on the hillside burning. Richardson went to his help and as he cut Borden's belt in two and jerked his clothes...
