On August 17, 1953, Robert M. Beers filed a bill for divorce in which he charged his wife, Mary R. Beers, with cruelty and wilfully deserting him on March 4, 1952. He prayed for an absolute divorce and the custody of the two infant children. Mary R. Beers filed an answer and cross bill in which she denied the charges of cruelty and desertion on her part, and in turn charged her husband with desertion.
