This is an action under the Jones Act, 46 U.S.C.A. § 688, for injuries suffered by the plaintiff, a second assistant engineer. He is 61 years old, and has followed the sea since 1921. On December 11, 1952 he was working aboard defendant's collier Penobscot with the chief engineer. He carried a blower below weighing about 50 pounds, and thereafter complained of a pain in his back.
