On September 22, 1954, at about 2 p.m., Donald Thomas Chambers, while driving a Chevrolet automobile in a southerly direction at what is known as the Giumarra Winery Crossing, about 7 miles east of Bakersfield, collided with a westbound Southern Pacific diesel unit and received fatal injuries.
