On September 9, 1953, both legs of Lucy Mac Bryant, a 13-year-old girl, were severed when two trucks owned by H. A. McCallum, and while being operated for him and in prosecution of his business by Luke Bryant and Dave Gallamore, collided. Janie Bryant, the mother of Lucy Mae Bryant and as her next friend, brought a suit for damages and for certain equitable relief against McCallum, Bryant, and Gallamore.
