On July 9, 1956, there was filed in the office of the Secretary of State of the State of North Dakota a petition consisting of 727 copies bearing 20,752 purported signatures of qualified electors of the state of North Dakota. This petition requested that there be placed upon the ballot at the next statewide election for approval or rejection an amendment and reenactment of Section 176 of the state constitution...
