On December 16, 1952, while carrying out hazardous features of the business of his employer, Steel Fabricators, Inc., plaintiff sustained serious physical injuries. He was engaged in hooking a cable to a bundle of reinforcing iron rods when the cable or the strap which held the pieces of iron together broke, and he was knocked down and sustained compound comminuted fractures of both bones of his left leg a few inches above the ankle.
