George Doubleday died on December 6, 1955, at the age of eighty-nine years. He had executed his will and a codicil thereto on August 11, 1953, and December 24, 1954, respectively. These instruments were admitted to probate on December 15, 1955, by the Probate Court for the district of Ridgefield, wherein the testator had been domiciled.
