Isiah Johnson and the appellant, Angelo Fields, were charged with robbery in the first degree. After a severance Fields was found guilty of larceny from the person "in an amount less than $30.00" and sentenced to five years' imprisonment.

The facts, as the jury could find them, were that about 12:30 a. m. on May 28, 1955, Philip Bauwens parked his car on Cole Street and walked north on 13th Street to Carr. Several young men were standing...
