James Ables, the appellant, was convicted of assault and battery, and appeals to this Court.

(Hn 1) He took the stand and testified as a witness. The State, in rebuttal, introduced two witnesses who said that Ables' reputation for truth and veracity was bad and they would not believe him upon oath. Ables said he had not placed his reputation for truth and veracity in issue and it was error for the State to thus attack
