This suit was brought by the owners of a large apartment house in Alexandria, Virginia, against a corporation which had contracted to convert the heating and hot water system of the building from coal to oil. Before the contractor's work was completed one of the three boilers, which formed part of the system, exploded shattering adjacent structures and causing personal injuries and property damage to tenants and other persons.
