This action was instituted by the plaintiff, Bessie Edith Hayes, the mother of Ray William Hayes, Jr., deceased, against the United States of America to recover the sum of $2,000, the proceeds of United States Government insurance policy No. K-1,047,984 issued to her son on January 1, 1938, and in which policy the plaintiff was named as the sole beneficiary.
