This is an election contest for the office of sheriff of Houston county. Clarence Vetsch and Beryl Kerrigan were the only candidates for the office of sheriff at the general election held in Houston county on November 2, 1954. The initial results as determined by the county canvassing board gave the contestee Vetsch a total of 3,371 votes while the contestant Kerrigan received only 3,294 votes — a difference of 77 votes.
