Prior to December 31, 1952 United Gas Improvement Company — U.G.I., as we shall refer to it — was a holding company which owned and operated seven subsidiary corporations. Luzerne County Gas & Electric Corporation was one of them, which along with the other six subsidiaries was merged into the body corporate of United Gas Improvement Company on the above date.
