ROBINSON, Justice.

Katherine Martin, a single girl sixteen years of age, lived with her widowed mother in a three-room house on the outskirts of Morrilton. She became pregnant, and her mother, Mary Martin, sold a portion of a small tract of land she owned and brought Katherine to Little Rock to get away from the embarrassing situation in their home town where Katherine was known.
