In the District Court plaintiff sought to recover from defendant damages claimed to have resulted from an allegedly defective cigarette lighter manufactured by defendant, but purchased from Sears, Roebuck & Company, in Chicago. The summons was served upon "E. H. Gordon, Salesman and Agent of said Corporation." Defendant moved to quash the service on two grounds: first, that it is a Massachusetts corporation not doing business in Illinois...
