On March 31, 1949, appellee fractured her leg about 3 inches above the ankle as she stepped from the street to the sidewalk near the corner of Bates and Larned streets in the city of Detroit. She filed her claim with the city on the following day, establishing the location "at sidewalk front of 28 E. Larned, corner of Bates."

Almost 2 years later, on February 13, 1951, plaintiff filed her declaration, establishing the place of the injury as: "Immediately...
