The defendant is charged with a violation of subdivision 6 of section 88 of article 6 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, "school stop sign", which states: "No person shall fail, neglect or refuse to comply with any reasonable order of a peace officer engaged in the direction of traffic nor with any lawful traffic regulations displayed in any highway."
