On June 2, 1953, appellant shot and killed one Albert Bell Goos, a deputy sheriff of Calcasieu Parish. He was indicted for murder, tried, convicted and sentenced to death. On appeal to this court, the judgment was reversed and appellant awarded a new trial. See State v. Sauls, 224 La. 1063, 71 So.2d 568.
