The parties to this appeal will be referred to as they were in the trial court. Plaintiff sued defendant to recover on a promissory note in the principal sum of $500 which defendant had executed and delivered to Cosmopolitan Building Corporation, alleging that the payee in the note, for a valuable consideration and in due course of trade, and before maturity, had endorsed the note to plaintiff, who thereupon became the legal owner and holder thereof...
