MILLER, Justice.

On January 27, 1950, Frederick S. Glassett, a childless widower, died in Western State Hospital, Staunton, Virginia. He was adjudged insane on November 7, 1931, and had been an inmate of that institution since that date.

Glassett left real and personal property amounting to nearly $20,000, and this litigation was instituted to determine which, if either, of two holographic paper writings constituted his will. One of the instruments was executed...
