The parties to this appeal were divorced in St. Louis County, Missouri, April 23, 1947, in a proceeding instituted by the wife. The final decree in that cause, entered pursuant to a stipulation of the parties, contained the following provision with reference to the four minor children born as a result of said marriage:

"* * * that said plaintiff have the care, custody, and control of the four minor children born of the marriage of the parties...
