This is an appeal from a judgment rendered against King county in favor of respondents for damages to their property as a result of a slide.

Respondents' property is located at the bottom of a steep slope, on the top of which is Twenty-eighth S.W., also known as Auto Drive. Before the county built the road in 1942, the land was rounded off at the top with vegetation on it. In building the road, the county made a fill about ten feet high....
