The appellant was convicted in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County under an indictment charging that "before the finding of this indictment Henry Palmer Jackson did own a pistol or have one in his possession or under his control, after September 11, 1951, theretofore having been convicted in this State of committing a crime of violence, namely: Larceny, against the peace and dignity of the State of Alabama."
