Before serving in World War I and for about a year thereafter, Clay M. Thomas operated a route for a local laundry in Columbus. In 1920 he and his wife, to whom he was married in 1915, started a linen supply busines in a small cement-block building in the rear of their residence on Hunter avenue in Columbus.
