This is an action to recover damages for the loss of a hand while helping to operate a portable sawing machine. Plaintiff was a farmer, 36 years old, and employed by defendant on or about February 26, 1951, to work on defendant's farm. On April 14, 1951, defendant employed William Harold Wray, the owner of a sawmill, to come to his farm to cut logs into lumber, which was to be used in building a barn on defendant's farm.
