In these two actions the plaintiffs —husband and wife—seek to recover damages resulting from physical injuries received by the wife from a fall upon the public sidewalk in Pedretti Avenue, adjacent to the defendant's land. The cases were tried together and the appeals were presented together in this court.

As a basis for defendant's liability, the plaintiffs alleged that a cement driveway was constructed extending from such sidewalk...
