Felix Pogue sued J. O. Swink for false imprisonment in the Circuit Court of St. Francois county, Missouri, in two counts, asking $20,000 damages ($10,000 actual and $10,000 punitive) in each count. Theodore Heffron filed a like suit. The venue was changed to the Circuit Court of Stoddard county, where motions of the plaintiffs to remand their respective cases...
