Plaintiff, an American seaman, is suing the defendant as the owner and operator of an ocean freighter known as the Mason Lykes, on which vessel he was formerly employed. Plaintiff claims to have been assaulted by a fellow seaman aboard the vessel and bases his claim for recovery on allegations of negligence and unseaworthiness.
