In September, 1949, the State Highway Commission instituted proceedings to condemn for highway purposes a strip of land approximately 50 feet wide and several miles long lying north of and adjacent to St. Charles Rock Road in St. Louis County. The aforesaid strip formerly was occupied and used as a streetcar right of way by the St. Louis Public Service Company, but either shortly before or shortly after the condemnation proceeding was instituted...
