When arrested, May 15, on the ground that he had failed to yield the right of way as he made a left turn at an intersection, the defendant was given a traffic ticket, the "written notice to appear" prescribed by section 739 of the Vehicle Code. Appearing in the trial court on June 6 in response to the notice, the defendant was advised of his constitutional rights, pleaded "not guilty" and his trial was set for July 2.
