Lester Heard, Jr., was apprehended as a fugitive from justice by authority of a Governor's warrant issued upon the request of the Governor of Tennessee. The sheriff produced him before the criminal court of Cook County, and Heard then filed a petition in that court for a writ of habeas corpus.
