By the foregoing actions, consolidated for trial, the plaintiffs seek to recover damages aggregating more than $400,000 under the Federal Tort Claims Act, 28 U.S.C.A. §§ 1346, 2671 et seq., as a result of a fire on October 31, 1946, which totally destroyed plaintiff Nakat Packing Corporation's cannery at Union Bay, Alaska, and some property of the plaintiffs American Can Company and Northern Electric Company.
