The power of eminent domain possessed by a municipal corporation is extremely great. It means that such a corporation can deprive a private citizen of his property, willy-nilly. Of course, the citizen, against whom the power is asserted, receives such compensation as commissioners appointed by the court determine is to be made for the property taken from the citizen against his will.
