Plaintiff-appellant, a physician and surgeon residing in the City of Edwardsville, Illinois, sustained personal injuries when an automobile operated by him was struck by defendant's eastbound freight train at a public crossing in that city. He brought this action in the Circuit Court of the City of St. Louis to recover damages therefor in the sum of $43,760. The jury returned a verdict in favor of defendant.
