Laws 1947, c. 266, s. 2, par. III, reads in part as follows: "When silicosis and other pulmonary dust diseases or death therefrom occur within the above definition of `personal injury' or `injury' compensation shall be payable under the provisions of this chapter, provided, however, that . . . (2) in the event of temporary or permanent total disability or death, notwithstanding any other provisions...
