Plaintiff in this action was the owner of a shipment of 54,000 bags of raw Puerto Rican sugar which, after being unloaded off the Steamship Morning Light at New Orleans, was placed in the defendant's wharfhouse known as Stuyvesant Dock prior to its being conveyed by the defendant to plaintiff's refinery at Arabi, Louisiana. While the shipment was stored in Stuyvesant Dock a hurricane struck the City of New Orleans and damaged part of the shipment...
