This action arose out of an automobile collision on the interstate bridge over the Columbia river between Vancouver, Washington, and Portland, Oregon. The principal issues presented are whether the appellant, The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company, was negligent in setting up and maintaining a traffic diversion system and, if so, whether that negligence was a proximate cause of the injuries sustained by the respondents.
