Petitioner, Henry Hawk, an inmate of the Nebraska State Penitentiary, transmitted to this court an application for a writ of habeas corpus. The application, crudely prepared by petitioner in his own handwriting, contained an affidavit of poverty and a request to proceed in forma pauperis. Since petitioner alleged, among other things, facts indicating his incarceration in violation of the Constitution of the United States, this court assumed jurisdiction...
