John Reynolds of New Bedford died intestate on August 17, 1946, leaving a widow, who is the petitioner in the first case, and three sons and two daughters by a former marriage. The respondents in both cases are one of the sons, James E. Reynolds (hereinafter called the respondent), and his wife, Sarah V. Reynolds. Both cases relate to the ownership of a savings account in the name of the deceased in trust for the respondent, and of certain United States...
