On September 8, 1949 the trustees applied for permission to retain as consulting engineers the firm of Coverdale & Colpitts (hereinafter referred to as Coverdale, or the Coverdale firm). The petition was opposed by the County of Nassau, the matter was argued and decision was reserved.
