This civil action was brought in the District Court of the United States for the Eastern District of Virginia under the Federal Employers' Liability Act, 45 U.S.C.A. § 51 et seq., hereinafter called the Act. The complaint alleged that plaintiff, Craven, had lost his leg through the negligence of the railroad. The jury returned a verdict for Craven and assessed damages at $28,000.
