William Jones and Josey Jones lived together from 1935 until 1942 when they were prosecuted and fined on account of the illicit relationship. They then procured a marriage license and lived together as husband and wife until December 27, 1947. On January 2, 1948, William Jones brought an action for divorce against Josey Jones on the grounds of adultery and habitual drunkenness.
