Plaintiff Elbert Swayze brought this action against his former wife Jane Swayze to recover from her an automobile or its value alleged to be owned by Elbert. Jane denied that the automobile belonged to Elbert and cross-complained to recover from him a diamond ring, which she alleged he had given her and then taken back, and for salary allegedly due her from her husband for services performed while working for him as a beauty operator during their marriage...
