This is a suit to recover real estate agent's commission brought by C. E. Smith, appellee herein, against Strother Jones, Jr., allegedly due him in the sale of appellant's ranch.

The defendant filed a plea in abatement, general denial, as well as special exceptions and an answer to the petition. The plea in abatement set up the invalidity of the contract as being in violation of the Statutes...
