In 1940 the General State Authority (the Authority), a public corporation of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, built an establishment in Butler County, Pennsylvania, known as the Western Pennsylvania Tubercular Sanitoroum (the Hospital). The United States contributed about $386,750 toward the cost of the construction and furnishing of the Hospital by means of the Work Projects Administration.
